Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, Vancouver 🇨🇦

Located in downtown Vancouver at the intersection of Richards and Dunsmuir streets, the Metropolitan Cathedral of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary is a late 19th-century French Gothic revival church. Elevated to cathedral status in 1916, this legally protected heritage landmark is built in the shape of a Latin cross, styled to resemble the medieval Chartres Cathedral in France.

When you visit, you will observe striking asymmetrical bell towers—the tallest reaching 217 feet—constructed with Gabriola Island sandstone exterior walls and granite foundations. Inside, red Scagliola marble columns support the nave, leading to a sanctuary featuring a central cathedra, an oak altar-piece, and two towers of reredos.

The interior also showcases 21 stained glass windows, including five renowned works by Canadian artist Guido Nincheri, and the province's oldest romantic-style pipe organ in its original location, crafted by the Karn–Warren Organ Company. Don't miss the side altar of relics completed in 2024, or the bronze *Homeless Jesus* sculpture by Timothy Schmalz situated right in front of the cathedral.
