Embassy Park 🇿🇲

Located along Independence Avenue opposite the Cabinet Office in Lusaka, Embassy Park is a national monument and official state burial ground spanning roughly 24,654 square feet. Managed by the National Heritage Conservation Commission, this peaceful site offers you a unique opportunity for national reflection while exploring the political history and architectural heritage of Zambia. As the final resting place for five deceased Zambian presidents—Kenneth Kaunda, Frederick Chiluba, Levy Mwanawasa, Rupiah Banda, and Michael Sata—the park honors these leaders through uniquely designed mausoleums that reflect their legacies, values, and historic achievements.

When you visit, you will see striking architectural symbolisms. Levy Mwanawasa's mausoleum features a traditional stool shape, boot-shaped pillars symbolizing his fight against corruption, and stepped stairs tracking his time in office. Frederick Chiluba's chapel-style site showcases ten pillars, a necktie-shaped entrance ramp, and a cross.

Michael Sata's mausoleum models King Solomon's Temple, displaying the Ten Commandments in English and Hebrew alongside steps named after created districts. Meanwhile, Kenneth Kaunda's grave bears the motto "ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION," and Rupiah Banda's site features a moving epitaph.
