Located at No. 9 Getreidegasse in Salzburg, Austria, Mozart's birthplace (Mozarts Geburtshaus or Hagenauerhaus) offers an intimate look into the early life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Built in the 12th century, the historic building housed the Mozart family on the third floor from 1747 to 1773, and it is where the famous composer was born on January 27, 1756.

Owned by the Mozart Foundation, the structure has served as a museum since 1880, tracing the composer's upbringing, friends, musical journey, and deep passion for opera. Inside, you will explore three floors filled with remarkable historical treasures. The third floor focuses on his childhood, featuring his childhood violin, harpsichord, family letters, portraits, documents, and early music editions, alongside records of his life in Vienna and his family.

Moving to the second floor, you can delve into his interest in opera and view the very clavichord on which he composed The Magic Flute. On the first floor, period furniture replicates living conditions from Mozart's day, complemented by original documents and paintings illustrating his life in Salzburg. You will also see notable artwork, including an incomplete 1789 portrait painted by his brother-in-law, Joseph Lange.
