Joslyn Art Museum 🇺🇸

Welcome to the Joslyn Art Museum, Nebraska’s largest fine arts museum and the state’s only institution boasting a comprehensive permanent collection. Located in Omaha, the Joslyn opened in 1931 after being founded and funded by Sarah H. Joslyn in memory of her husband, businessman George A. Joslyn.

As you arrive, you will encounter an impressive pink Georgia marble Art Deco building designed by John and Alan McDonald, featuring exterior decorative panels by John David Brcin celebrating Plains history. Inside, you can explore over 12,000 objects spanning ancient Greek pottery to modern masterpieces. Walk through galleries featuring nineteenth- and twentieth-century American and European art by renowned artists such as Rembrandt, El Greco, Monet, Degas, Winslow Homer, and Grant Wood. You can also visit the Margre H.

Durham Center for Western Studies, home to important Western American Art, including extensive Karl Bodmer watercolors from his Missouri River frontier journey. During your visit, admire smooth architectural additions like the glass-connected Scott Pavilion and the cloud-like Rhonda and Howard Hawks Pavilion. You can also stroll through peaceful outdoor sculpture gardens showcasing local and national artwork alongside a reflecting pool and waterfall.
