Voronezh State Opera

Welcome to the Voronezh State Theater of Opera, a historic cultural institution located in Voronezh, Russia. Originally established in 1870, this famed venue traces its modern performance history to the 1931 founding of the Musical Comedy Theater, which initially delighted audiences with operettas and musical comedies. Reconstructed in 1961 following an initiative by Tikhon Khrennikov, the theater officially celebrated its rebirth as an Opera and Ballet Theater with landmark staging of Eugene Onegin and Swan Lake. Since 1961, the company has also toured internationally under the name of the State Ballet Theater of Russia.
