Riverside Studio 🇺🇸

Step into a piece of Oklahoma's rich architectural and theatrical history at the Riverside Studio in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Also known as the Tulsa Spotlight Theater, this two-story structure was designed by architect Bruce Goff in the International Style and built in 1928. Originally constructed as a house and studio wing for music teacher Patti Adams Shriner, the hillside building sits on an 0.86-acre tract facing west toward the Arkansas River.

Listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 2001, it is a fascinating stop for design enthusiasts and drama lovers alike. During your visit, you will see striking architectural elements, including the building's flat roof, stucco exterior, and its most prominent feature: a two-story entrance hall reached by external stairs leading to a common landing.

Take note of the large, flat, circular front window in the foyer, as well as the stepped front windows featuring alternating inserts of black glass. Beyond the foyer lies the narrow, one-story auditorium connecting to the stage. Today, you can catch America's longest-running stage production, the 19th-century temperance melodrama "The Drunkard," which has been performed by the Tulsa Spotlight Club almost every Saturday night for six decades.
