Situated at the base of the Zabarwan range in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden is Asia's largest tulip garden, spanning approximately 30 hectares (74 acres). Formerly known as Siraj Bagh and the Model Floriculture Center, this spectacular destination opened in 2007 to boost regional floriculture and tourism. Built on sloping ground in a terraced layout featuring seven distinct terraces, it offers visitors a breathtaking overview of Dal Lake.
When you visit, you will witness a vibrant showcase of around 70 to 75 varieties of tulips, originating from about 1.75 million tulip bulbs brought from Amsterdam's famous Keukenhof tulip gardens. Beyond the stunning array of colorful tulips, the grounds showcase 46 other flower varieties, including hyacinths, daffodils, and ranunculus brought from Holland. The government of Jammu and Kashmir hosts an annual Spring Tulip festival here to display these diverse blooms.
The garden remains a major draw for domestic and international travelers alike, welcoming a record 365,000 tourists during a single one-month period between March and April 2023. Plan your trip to experience this magnificent hillside floral display framing one of Kashmir's famous lakes.
