Located in Corpus Christi, Texas, the Texas State Aquarium is the largest aquarium in the state and one of the largest in the United States. As an AZA-accredited nonprofit and federally permitted rehabilitation facility, it aims to promote environmental conservation and protect the wildlife of the Gulf of Mexico. When you visit, you will encounter dynamic habitats spanning marine and terrestrial species.
Walk along a simulated jungle pathway in the Caribbean Jungle to see flamingos and a two-toed sloth, or step into an acrylic bubble at the Blue Hole to get an underwater view of deep sea caverns. At the H-E-B Caribbean Sea exhibit, you can gaze through North America's longest acrylic display window or walk through a tunnel to view sandbar sharks and stingrays. You can also watch Atlantic bottlenose dolphins during educational presentations at Dolphin Bay, see North American river otters at Otter Creek, and observe rehabilitated sea turtles at Tortuga Cay.
Hands-on experiences await at Living Shores and Stingray Lagoon, where you can touch hermit crabs and stingrays. Whether you are catching a bird presentation at the Hawn Wild Flight Theater or exploring oil platform ecosystems at Islands of Steel, a trip here connects you directly with essential wildlife rescue and ocean conservation efforts.
