Welcome to the Denizli Atatürk and Ethnography Museum, a captivating historic house museum set inside a charming 19th-century two-story residence. Located on 459th Street in the Saraylar neighborhood of Denizli, Turkey, this national museum offers you an authentic glimpse into local Turkish heritage and national history. You will step into the very house where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkey, stayed during his visit on February 4, 1931.
Opened as a museum on that exact date in 1984, the ground floor introduces you to fascinating ethnographical displays featuring traditional ornaments, intricate woodwork, and silver tools. In the larger room, you can admire historic weaponry like yatagans, swords, rifles, and guns, alongside a 1919 War of Independence flag and the 1920s uniform of local hero Hüseyin Efe. As you ascend to the upper floor, you will explore three rooms using mannequins to vividly depict the traditional lifestyle of Denizli citizens.
You will also discover two rooms preserved in honor of Atatürk's historic stay, plus an anteroom showcasing fine house furniture donated by Necip Ali Küçüka and an impressive oil painting by İbrahim Çallı.
