Why Thérèse Island
Situated just off the western shoreline of Mahé, the primary island of the Seychelles, Thérèse Island is a small, uninhabited landmass. Administratively, it forms part of the Port Glaud district alongside neighboring Conception Island. The location is widely recognized for its scenic natural features, including expansive stretches of shoreline and distinctive topography.
The geography of the island is defined by 700 meters of white sand beaches bordered by abundant coconut palms. A protective reef lines the southern shore of the island. Inland, two rocky elevations create a landscape resembling a massive staircase. The highest point on the island is Thérèse Peak, which rises to an elevation of 164 meters (538 feet) above sea level.
While no permanent population resides on Thérèse Island, tourism serves as its main economic activity. Visitors regularly travel to the island to engage in a variety of coastal recreation and water sports. Popular pursuits in the surrounding waters include snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, windsurfing, water skiing, and deep sea fishing.
