You will find St. Louis Lambert International Airport covering 3,793 acres in unincorporated St. Louis County, located 14 miles northwest of downtown St. Louis between Berkeley and Bridgeton. As the largest and busiest airport in Missouri, it serves as a primary regional gateway offering nonstop service to over 80 destinations across the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Europe.

The airport served nearly 16 million passengers in 2024 and features four operational runways. Ground operations are organized across main passenger facilities including Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Southwest Airlines dominates current operations out of Terminal 2, while other major airlines and international service connect through the airport's active concourses, continuing a rich aviation legacy spanning over a century.

Lost, delayed or damaged baggage at STL

If your checked bag doesn't turn up on the belt, act before you leave the baggage-claim area — that's where every airline keeps its Baggage Service Office.

  1. Go to your airline's Baggage Service Office in the baggage-claim hall of your arrival terminal.
  2. File a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) and get your file reference (WorldTracer) number. Keep your bag-tag receipt and boarding pass.
  3. Track it online using that reference on your airline's baggage-tracking page — most bags are located within 24–48 hours.
  4. Claim your essentials. On delayed bags airlines reimburse reasonable interim purchases (toiletries, clothing) — keep receipts. International trips are covered by the Montreal Convention.
  5. If it's truly lost (generally after 21 days) or damaged, file the claim at the same office — damage must be reported before you leave the airport.

Left something in the terminal (not a checked bag)? That's handled by the airport Lost & Found. Items left at a TSA security checkpoint are held by the TSA, not the airline.
