Stockholm Arlanda Airport is Sweden's largest airport and the third-largest in the Nordic region, serving as the main international gateway for Stockholm. Located in Sigtuna Municipality within Stockholm County, it sits 37 kilometers north of Stockholm and nearly 40 kilometers southeast of Uppsala. Spanning approximately 2,500 hectares, Arlanda acts as the primary hub for international air travel across large parts of Sweden.
The airport operates four terminals numbered 2, 3, 4, and 5, alongside the central landside Sky City concourse. While flights were historically split between domestic and international routes, Arlanda no longer separates flights by destination type, dividing gate areas between Schengen and Non-Schengen departures instead. Terminal 5 is the largest facility, connected directly to Terminal 4 via an airside walkway to function as a combined terminal complex.
Arlanda serves as a major operational hub for Scandinavian Airlines and Norwegian Air Shuttle, while hosting regional, low-cost, and international carrier fleets. Sky City sits between Terminals 4 and 5, offering landside shopping, dining, hotels, and rail access. Passengers transfer across the terminal area using high-speed rail stations, dedicated buses between Terminals 2 and 5, or airside pedestrian walkways.
01 Terminals & concourses
Inaugurated in 1990 with eight passenger bridge stands, Terminal 2 handles Schengen and international departures with dedicated amenities and rail access.
Terminal 3 serves regional domestic and Schengen flights, requiring passengers to walk outdoors to board aircraft via airstairs.
Featuring 14 bridge stands, Terminal 4 primarily handles low-cost carriers and connects directly to Terminal 5 via an airside walkway.
Terminal 5 is Arlanda's largest facility, housing three piers, extensive customs, security, baggage reclaim, and support for large long-haul aircraft.

Lost, delayed or damaged baggage at ARN
If your checked bag doesn't turn up on the belt, act before you leave the baggage-claim area — that's where every airline keeps its Baggage Service Office.
- Go to your airline's Baggage Service Office in the baggage-claim hall of your arrival terminal.
- File a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) and get your file reference (WorldTracer) number. Keep your bag-tag receipt and boarding pass.
- Track it online using that reference on your airline's baggage-tracking page — most bags are located within 24–48 hours.
- Claim your essentials. On delayed bags airlines reimburse reasonable interim purchases (toiletries, clothing) — keep receipts. International trips are covered by the Montreal Convention.
- If it's truly lost (generally after 21 days) or damaged, file the claim at the same office — damage must be reported before you leave the airport.
Left something in the terminal (not a checked bag)? That's handled by the airport Lost & Found. Items left at a TSA security checkpoint are held by the TSA, not the airline.
