Located in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, roughly 8 miles southeast of Downtown Pittsburgh, Kennywood is one of America's few remaining operational trolley parks. Originally established on May 30, 1898 at the end of a street railway line on land known as Kenny's Grove, the park evolved from a picnic destination into a landmark amusement park. Long managed by the Kennywood Entertainment Company following a 1906 purchase, it was later operated by Parques Reunidos' Palace Entertainment and was purchased by Herschend in early 2025. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1987.

Kennywood makes clever use of Pittsburgh's hilly terrain across distinct named areas. You can wander through lands such as historic Lost Kennywood, alien-themed Area 412, football-themed Steelers Country, Kiddieland, Kennywood Junction, Kenny Lane, Kennyville, The Lagoon, and Good Time Midway. Historically located near the 1755 Battle of the Monongahela site, the park blends historic early-1900s charm with modern themed zones. Whether you are exploring vintage structures or newer themed sectors, the layout presents a unique mix of traditional heritage and modern park areas.

The park is renowned for its roller coasters, including historic working wooden coasters like Jack Rabbit, Racer, and Thunderbolt, alongside steel thrillers such as Sky Rocket, Phantom's Revenge, and Steel Curtain, which boasts the tallest inversion in the world. Visitors can also enjoy the indoor coaster The Exterminator, dark attractions like Ghostwood Estate, and water rides such as Raging Rapids and Pittsburg Plunge. Suited for families and thrill-seekers alike, Kennywood also hosts popular seasonal events, including the Phantom Fall Fest.
