Parc Astérix is a premier French theme park situated in the commune of Plailly within the department of Oise. Located roughly 35 km (22 mi) northeast of Paris, 32 km (20 mi) from Disneyland Paris, and 20 km (12 mi) from the historic Château de Chantilly, it is situated conveniently right by the A1 autoroute. The park was inaugurated on 30 April 1989 after two years of construction, built at a cost of 850 million French francs. Today, it is operated by Compagnie des Alpes and stands as France's second most visited entertainment resort.
The park brings to life the visual style and world of Albert Uderzo and René Goscinny's beloved comic book series, Asterix.
