Located in Salou and Vila-seca on Catalonia's Costa Daurada in Spain, PortAventura World is Spain's most visited theme park resort and the sixth most visited in Europe, drawing around 5.3 million annual visitors. The resort sits within a 15-minute drive of Reus Airport and an hour from Barcelona Airport, with the Salou-Port Aventura train station located just 750 meters from the resort entrance.
First opened in 1995 as Port Aventura—originally backed by The Tussauds Group, La Caixa, Anheuser-Busch, and FECSA—the resort was briefly owned by Universal before returning to Spanish investment ownership. Today, the resort encompasses three distinct parks: the original PortAventura Park, the 60,000-square-meter Ferrari Land (opened in 2017), and the 50,000-square-meter PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park, alongside six themed on-site hotels, an RV park, and a convention center.
PortAventura Park is organized into six themed lands: five based on historical civilizations—Mediterrània, Far West, México, China, and Polynesia—and one dedicated to Sesame Street. The adjacent Ferrari Land brings an Italian sports car aesthetic featuring recreations of Venice's Piazza San Marco and Rome's Colosseum, while the water park offers a tropical Caribbean atmosphere set to Latin and reggae music.
PortAventura World caters to thrill-seekers, families, and multi-day vacationers alike. It is famous for record-breaking roller coasters like Dragon Khan, Shambhala, and Europe's tallest and fastest coaster, Red Force. Beyond adrenaline rides, the resort features interactive dark rides, extensive splash battles, extreme water slides like King Khajuna, and seasonal Halloween and Christmas shows.
