Pfeiffer Beach sits within the scenic Big Sur region on the Central Coast of California. Due to the steep terrain along this stretch of coast, the beach is notable for being one of the rare ocean access points in Big Sur. To reach the area, visitors travel down a road flanked by Western Sycamore trees, which runs through Sycamore Canyon inside the Los Padres National Forest.

The beach itself provides a front-row view of dramatic coastal geography, most famously Keyhole Rock. This prominent archway draws visitors and photographers from all over, particularly during select winter days when the setting sun aligns directly through the opening. The surrounding environment remains natural and protected as part of the national forest, offering an ideal setting for sightseers, nature lovers, and landscape photographers.

While it is one of the most popular beaches on California's Central Coast, visitors should prepare for varying local weather conditions. Summer months from June through August frequently bring chilly, foggy weather known locally as 'June Gloom.' Despite the cool marine layer, its historical roots, natural arch, and scenic coastal setting make it an essential stop for travellers exploring the Big Sur coastline.
