Cinecittà World is a movie-inspired resort situated in the Castel Romano district of Rome, Italy, right next to the Castel Romano Designer Outlet shopping center. Built on the historical grounds of Dino De Laurentiis's 1960s Dinocittà film studios, the destination repurposes classic movie stages and buildings into creative indoor attractions and show theaters. Visitors can access the grounds via the SS 148 Pontina highway or by taking shuttle bus connections operating directly from Roma Termini station and the EUR Palasport metro stop.
The theme park officially opened on July 24, 2014, created through an initiative by entrepreneurs Luigi Abete, Aurelio De Laurentiis, Diego Della Valle, and manager Stefano Cigarini. Spanning a total area of 300,000 square meters, the complex features set designs crafted by Academy Award-winner Dante Ferretti. The park is famously recognized for its dramatic entrance portal, which faithfully replicates the iconic Temple of Moloch featured in the historic 1914 Italian silent cinematic masterpiece Cabiria.
The broader resort complex hosts 40 total attractions, 6 live indoor and outdoor theater shows, and 7 thematic lands suitable for adrenaline thrill-seekers, families, and young children. Within the resort grounds, guests can explore specialized sub-parks including the Aqua World water park, an indoor winter snow complex called Il Regno del Ghiaccio, and the adjacent Roma World experiential park featuring ancient Roman activities and themed overnight stay options.
