Why Bitam
Bitam is a border town situated in the northern region of Gabon along the N2 highway, near the international boundary with Cameroon. According to census data from 2013, the settlement has a population of 27,923 inhabitants.
The town features a substantial market that serves as a central hub for commercial activity. In addition to its trade facilities, Bitam contains an airport that provides air access to the locality.
From a cultural perspective, Bitam is notable for a small Jewish community that has formed among former Christians residing in the area. Members of this local group observe Jewish religious customs, though the community does not possess a formal synagogue building.
