Located 25 miles northeast of Downtown Denver, Denver International Airport spans an expansive 33,531 acres, making it the largest commercial airport by land area in North America. Situated on the western edge of the Great Plains near the Rocky Mountains, this major aviation hub serves millions of passengers annually and stands as Colorado's single largest employer.

As a vital midcontinent hub, DEN handles immense air traffic and serves as the primary operating hub for United Airlines, Frontier Airlines, and Southwest Airlines. You can access nonstop flights to over 200 destinations across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. The airport operates six active runways, including North America's longest public-use runway measuring 16,000 feet.

Airport navigation centers on the central Jeppesen Terminal, where you will complete ticketing and security screening on Level 6. Three midfield concourses—A, B, and C—house a total of 169 operational gates. You can reach Concourse A via a pedestrian bridge or train, while Concourses B and C are accessed exclusively using the underground train system.

Lost, delayed or damaged baggage at DEN

If your checked bag doesn't turn up on the belt, act before you leave the baggage-claim area — that's where every airline keeps its Baggage Service Office.

  1. Go to your airline's Baggage Service Office in the baggage-claim hall of your arrival terminal.
  2. File a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) and get your file reference (WorldTracer) number. Keep your bag-tag receipt and boarding pass.
  3. Track it online using that reference on your airline's baggage-tracking page — most bags are located within 24–48 hours.
  4. Claim your essentials. On delayed bags airlines reimburse reasonable interim purchases (toiletries, clothing) — keep receipts. International trips are covered by the Montreal Convention.
  5. If it's truly lost (generally after 21 days) or damaged, file the claim at the same office — damage must be reported before you leave the airport.

Left something in the terminal (not a checked bag)? That's handled by the airport Lost & Found. Items left at a TSA security checkpoint are held by the TSA, not the airline.
