Located in Honolulu three miles northwest of the central business district, Daniel K. Inouye International Airport spans 4,220 acres—over 1% of Oahu Island. It serves as Hawaii's primary commercial aviation facility, offering nonstop regional and transpacific connections across North America, Asia, and Oceania. Operating alongside Hickam Air Force Base, it acts as a major hub for Hawaiian Airlines and a base for Aloha Air Cargo.
The facility is organized into three distinct passenger terminals housing 60 gates across multiple concourses, including the Mauka, Diamond Head, Central, and Ewa concourses. Terminals 1 and 2 are linked post-security, though travelers moving between them must clear a USDA agricultural inspection station for carry-on luggage. Ongoing state modernization projects continue to upgrade terminal walkways, security checkpoints, parking garages, and gate layouts.
01 Terminals & concourses
Features 25 gates, including the Mauka Concourse built to handle wide-body and narrow-body jets. It connects post-security to Terminal 2 via dedicated walkways and houses internal TSA checkpoints.
Serves transpacific and international flights across multiple concourses. It is situated adjacent to a consolidated rental car facility and features an upgraded international arrivals corridor.

Lost, delayed or damaged baggage at HNL
If your checked bag doesn't turn up on the belt, act before you leave the baggage-claim area — that's where every airline keeps its Baggage Service Office.
- Go to your airline's Baggage Service Office in the baggage-claim hall of your arrival terminal.
- File a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) and get your file reference (WorldTracer) number. Keep your bag-tag receipt and boarding pass.
- Track it online using that reference on your airline's baggage-tracking page — most bags are located within 24–48 hours.
- Claim your essentials. On delayed bags airlines reimburse reasonable interim purchases (toiletries, clothing) — keep receipts. International trips are covered by the Montreal Convention.
- If it's truly lost (generally after 21 days) or damaged, file the claim at the same office — damage must be reported before you leave the airport.
Left something in the terminal (not a checked bag)? That's handled by the airport Lost & Found. Items left at a TSA security checkpoint are held by the TSA, not the airline.
