Located 19 kilometres (12 mi) north of Jeddah and spanning 112 square kilometres (43 sq mi), King Abdulaziz International Airport is the busiest airport in Saudi Arabia. It serves as a vital international gateway to both Jeddah and Mecca, handling massive passenger traffic particularly during the annual Hajj pilgrimage. The airfield is shared with the RSAF King Abdullah Air Base and includes a royal terminal alongside three main operational passenger terminals.
You will navigate through an airport organized around Terminal 1 (a massive hub handling domestic and international flights), the North Terminal, and a dedicated Hajj Terminal designed for seasonal pilgrim transport. The airport functions as the primary hub for Saudi flag carrier Saudia, as well as an operating base for local budget airlines Flynas and Flyadeal. An automated people mover links Terminal 1 with the North Terminal.
01 Terminals & concourses
This massive 810,000-square-meter facility handles domestic and international flights, linking directly to a transport center, parking, and a high-speed train station.
Mainly used by international, non-Saudi carriers to handle general passenger traffic.
Featuring an iconic award-winning, open-air tent-like roof structure, this specialized complex accommodates up to 80,000 travelers at a time with air-conditioned processing facilities, an open support area, a souk, and a mosque.
Opened in 1981 with a Dulles-inspired design, this historic terminal permanently closed in June 2020 with all operations transferred to Terminal 1.

Lost, delayed or damaged baggage at JED
If your checked bag doesn't turn up on the belt, act before you leave the baggage-claim area — that's where every airline keeps its Baggage Service Office.
- Go to your airline's Baggage Service Office in the baggage-claim hall of your arrival terminal.
- File a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) and get your file reference (WorldTracer) number. Keep your bag-tag receipt and boarding pass.
- Track it online using that reference on your airline's baggage-tracking page — most bags are located within 24–48 hours.
- Claim your essentials. On delayed bags airlines reimburse reasonable interim purchases (toiletries, clothing) — keep receipts. International trips are covered by the Montreal Convention.
- If it's truly lost (generally after 21 days) or damaged, file the claim at the same office — damage must be reported before you leave the airport.
Left something in the terminal (not a checked bag)? That's handled by the airport Lost & Found. Items left at a TSA security checkpoint are held by the TSA, not the airline.
