Located in Uptown Central San Antonio about 8 miles north of Downtown, San Antonio International Airport covers 2,305 acres with three runways. Serving as the 43rd busiest airport in the United States, this facility handles an average of 260 daily arrivals and departures across 27 gates, providing non-stop connections to 45 destinations throughout the United States and Mexico.
You will navigate the airport through two active passenger terminals: Terminal A and Terminal B. Terminal A is the larger facility housing 17 gates, accommodating international flights and 12 airlines including Southwest Airlines. Terminal B features 10 gates primarily hosting American Airlines and United Airlines, offering convenient access via a skybridge to a consolidated rental car center.
01 Terminals & concourses
Terminal A features 17 gates, handling all international carriers and 12 of the airport's 14 airlines, including Southwest Airlines. It houses the U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility and features terrazzo floors and updated food courts.
Terminal B contains 10 gates hosting American Airlines and United Airlines. It connects directly to the consolidated rental car facility via a mezzanine skybridge.

Lost, delayed or damaged baggage at SAT
If your checked bag doesn't turn up on the belt, act before you leave the baggage-claim area — that's where every airline keeps its Baggage Service Office.
- Go to your airline's Baggage Service Office in the baggage-claim hall of your arrival terminal.
- File a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) and get your file reference (WorldTracer) number. Keep your bag-tag receipt and boarding pass.
- Track it online using that reference on your airline's baggage-tracking page — most bags are located within 24–48 hours.
- Claim your essentials. On delayed bags airlines reimburse reasonable interim purchases (toiletries, clothing) — keep receipts. International trips are covered by the Montreal Convention.
- If it's truly lost (generally after 21 days) or damaged, file the claim at the same office — damage must be reported before you leave the airport.
Left something in the terminal (not a checked bag)? That's handled by the airport Lost & Found. Items left at a TSA security checkpoint are held by the TSA, not the airline.
