Changi Airport is Singapore's primary international airport, located in the eastern Changi planning area about 24 kilometres (15 miles) east of the Central Area. Spanning a site of approximately 25 square kilometres, this major aviation gateway in the Asia-Pacific region serves more than 100 international airlines with scheduled flights linking Singapore to over 170 cities across Asia, Oceania, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and North America.

The airport operates four main passenger terminals with a total capacity of 90 million passengers annually. Terminals 1, 2, and 3 are directly connected to Jewel Changi Airport, a central nature-themed entertainment and retail complex featuring the 40-metre-tall Rain Vortex indoor waterfall. A fifth terminal is currently under construction on reclaimed land to the east and is expected to open in the mid-2030s.

Changi Airport serves as the home base for Singapore Airlines, its subsidiaries Singapore Airlines Cargo and Scoot, and aircraft leasing firm BOC Aviation, while also operating as a principal regional cargo hub for FedEx Express. Managed by the Changi Airport Group under the Singapore Ministry of Finance, the airport handles tens of millions of passengers and millions of tonnes of air freight annually across three operational 4-kilometre runways.

Lost, delayed or damaged baggage at SIN

If your checked bag doesn't turn up on the belt, act before you leave the baggage-claim area — that's where every airline keeps its Baggage Service Office.

  1. Go to your airline's Baggage Service Office in the baggage-claim hall of your arrival terminal.
  2. File a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) and get your file reference (WorldTracer) number. Keep your bag-tag receipt and boarding pass.
  3. Track it online using that reference on your airline's baggage-tracking page — most bags are located within 24–48 hours.
  4. Claim your essentials. On delayed bags airlines reimburse reasonable interim purchases (toiletries, clothing) — keep receipts. International trips are covered by the Montreal Convention.
  5. If it's truly lost (generally after 21 days) or damaged, file the claim at the same office — damage must be reported before you leave the airport.

Left something in the terminal (not a checked bag)? That's handled by the airport Lost & Found. Items left at a TSA security checkpoint are held by the TSA, not the airline.
