Located about 4 miles west of Downtown Salt Lake City, Utah, Salt Lake City International Airport is the busiest airport in Utah and a major gateway to the Intermountain West and West Coast. In 2024, it served a record 28,364,610 passengers. The airport spans 7,700 acres with three runways oriented NNW/SSE due to prevailing winds, hosting commercial, general aviation, and military operations.
The airport serves as a primary hub for Delta Air Lines, offering daily nonstop departures across North America, South America, Asia, and Europe. SLC consistently achieves high national rankings for on-time arrivals, departures, and low cancellation rates. Owned by the City of Salt Lake City, the facility is administered by the municipal Department of Airports.
Layout is streamlined within a single terminal building featuring two linear concourses, Concourse A and Concourse B, connected by underground pathways including the central River Tunnel. The layout includes a consolidated security checkpoint with 16 lanes, 11 domestic baggage carousels, and separate checkpoint and carousel facilities for incoming international arrivals.

Lost, delayed or damaged baggage at SLC
If your checked bag doesn't turn up on the belt, act before you leave the baggage-claim area — that's where every airline keeps its Baggage Service Office.
- Go to your airline's Baggage Service Office in the baggage-claim hall of your arrival terminal.
- File a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) and get your file reference (WorldTracer) number. Keep your bag-tag receipt and boarding pass.
- Track it online using that reference on your airline's baggage-tracking page — most bags are located within 24–48 hours.
- Claim your essentials. On delayed bags airlines reimburse reasonable interim purchases (toiletries, clothing) — keep receipts. International trips are covered by the Montreal Convention.
- If it's truly lost (generally after 21 days) or damaged, file the claim at the same office — damage must be reported before you leave the airport.
Left something in the terminal (not a checked bag)? That's handled by the airport Lost & Found. Items left at a TSA security checkpoint are held by the TSA, not the airline.
