Located in Belém, Brazil, the Basilica of Our Lady of Nazareth of Exile—also known as the Basilica of Belém—is a historic Catholic minor basilica and Archdiocesan Marian Sanctuary. When you visit this striking temple, you are stepping onto the historic site where Plácido José de Souza originally discovered the venerated image of the Virgin of Nazareth along the banks of the Murututu Igarapé. Designed in 1909 by Italian architect Gino Coppedè at the request of Barnabite priests, the building features an eclectic, Neoclassical architectural style modeled after Rome's Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls.

As you explore the exterior, you will notice its dual bell towers, which stand 42 meters high; these steeples were added by the municipal government to match traditional churches in the Lusophone world, despite Coppedè's original plan. Inside, the grand interior spans 62 meters long, 24 meters wide, and 20 meters high. It houses nine impressive bells, including a massive main bell weighing over two tons.

Listed as a historic structure by Pará's DPHAC in 1992, this sacred sanctuary offers a deep look into the region's rich religious heritage and unique architectural history.
