Centennial Mall 🇺🇸

Nebraska's Centennial Mall is a seven-block-long public space located in Lincoln, Nebraska, stretching from the Nebraska State Capitol northwards to the University of Nebraska – Lincoln city campus. First envisioned by Capitol architect Bertram Goodhue in 1922 and completed in 1972, this historic avenue underwent a major $19.6 million renovation in 2016 to create an interactive, accessible pedestrian corridor. Visiting this vibrant space allows you to explore Nebraska's rich history, leadership, and natural beauty divided across three distinct thematic zones.

In the Civic Zone, you will discover a large pavement outline of Nebraska displaying the state's major rivers and ecoregions, alongside elements celebrating state leaders and democracy. As you stroll through the Community Zone, widened sidewalks showcase donor-inscribed paving stones honoring local individuals and organizations. Finally, the Campus Zone near the university campus features water elements, an art alcove, an amphitheater, and a ten-foot bronze statue of Ponca Chief Standing Bear created by Benjamin Victor.

Throughout your walk, you can scan plaques with QR codes to learn about historical sites, important figures, and local industries, making Centennial Mall an educational and visually engaging stroll through Nebraska's heartland.
