Located in the Leamonsley area of southwest Lichfield, England, Christ Church is an active Anglican parish church that offers a fascinating stop for travelers exploring Staffordshire. Consecrated in 1847 as the city's first new parish church since medieval times, this Grade II* listed building stands as a fine 19th-century example of Decorated Gothic Revival architecture. Originally designed by local architect Thomas Johnson on land donated by Richard Hinckley of Beacon House and funded by his wife Ellen Jane Hinckley, the church was later expanded in 1887 by Matthew Holding.

Inside, you can admire remarkable artistic craftsmanship, including unique Pre-Raphaelite ceiling canvas panels painted by John D. Batten in 1897, which portray Old Testament figures alongside symbols of the Passion and Eucharist. Explore detailed stained glass windows created by Hardman & Co. and Charles Eamer Kempe, an 1888 chancel screen, and a sanctuary refurbished in 1906 with marble paving and an alabaster reredos designed by George Frederick Bodley.

Outside, the grounds feature the Grade II listed Hinckley family tombs at the rear, the Seckham family gravesite along the east wall, and a World War II Royal Air Force officer war grave, blending rich local heritage with historic design.
