Dnipro Art Museum

As one of the oldest museums in Ukraine, the Dnipro Art Museum offers you a deep dive into fine arts spanning from the 16th to the 21st centuries. First opened in April 1914 to honor Taras Shevchenko's 100th birthday, this historic institution has survived world wars, bombings, and even a devastating 1974 fire to preserve its impressive collection of roughly 8,500 pieces. Located in a four-story building on Shevchenko Street since 1937, the museum invites you to explore a wide range of visual and decorative arts.

When you visit, you will encounter two main sections. One highlights 17th- and 18th-century Ukrainian and Russian art, featuring iconography, portraits, and folk art. The other showcases 19th- and 20th-century works, alongside Soviet-era and contemporary Ukrainian art, plus pieces from Western Europe.

Art enthusiasts can admire stunning landscape paintings by renowned artists like Ivan Aivazovsky, Ilya Repin, and Isaac Levitan, as well as sculptures by Vladimir Beklemishev. A primary highlight of the entire collection is the symbolist artwork of Yekaterinoslav-native Mikhail Sapozhnikov, making it a rewarding cultural stop in the city of Dnipro.
