Located in the Riviera neighborhood of Santa Barbara, California, Franceschi Park is a 15.78-acre public park sitting roughly 800 feet above sea level and about two miles from the coast. Divided by Mission Ridge Road into an upper and lower park, you will find an elevated southerly orientation in the upper section that awards clear panoramic views of the Santa Barbara coastline and the Channel Islands. The site honors the pioneering horticultural work of Dr.
Francesco Franceschi, who established a botanical garden and nursery on the property in 1903. While exploring, you can check out the park's trails, small picnic area, parking lot, restrooms, and a large patio that serves as a group picnic space. You will also see Montarioso, a semi-dilapidated, four-story Mediterranean-style mansion initially built in 1905 as a redwood Craftsman style home and later remodeled by Alden Freeman.
The historic grounds still hold surviving plant species introduced during the site's rich horticultural past, along with hardscape details like terraces, axial staircases, stone walls, and a western semi-circular stone bench.
