Located in Jangsaengpo, Nam District, Ulsan, South Korea, the Jangsaengpo Whale Museum offers a unique look into the region's historic whaling past and marine life. Opened in 2005 as the only whale museum in South Korea, it sits on 6,946 square meters across three floors in what was once a central whaling area.

Although South Korea banned whaling in 1986, local artifacts were preserved and are now displayed alongside resources teaching marine ecology and the vital importance of whale habitat conservation. You will explore a collection of over 1,800 pieces, including rare whale skeletons like the Bryde's whale, orca, and toothed whale.

Be sure to check out the dedicated history hall, an authentic whaling boat, a 4D theatre, and a specialized hall honoring Gray whales, locally known as "Ghost whales." Beyond the main building, you can spot the whale sculpture on the roof, visit the adjacent Whale Ecology Centre—home to Korea's first dolphinarium featuring acrobatic performances and an underwater viewing tunnel—or take an elevated monorail ride around the surrounding Jangsaengpo Whale Cultural Village directly from the museum station.
