If you are exploring Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, you can step into history at the M. V. Frunze Museum.
First opened in December 1925, this historical attraction was established to commemorate Mikhail Frunze inside the original house where he was born, constructed in 1879 by his father, Vasily Frunze. The structure itself holds significant heritage and was added to the State List of Historic and Cultural Monuments of Republican Importance in 2002. As you wander through the venue, renovated in 1967 with decorative touches by muralists Alexei Kamensky and Alexander Voronin, you will encounter a vast array of historical artifacts.
The collection contains thousands of objects, including furniture and plates donated by Mikhail's family or friends, alongside manuscripts, books, documents, photographs, and paintings. One of the main exhibits you will see is an adobe hut. Visitors can examine exhibitions displaying personal belongings of Mikhail Frunze, rare books dating from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and historical displays focused on the development of Bishkek or the Epic of Manas.
