Located on the north side of Montgomery, Alabama, the 40-acre Montgomery Zoo holds approximately 750 animals across 140 species. As an independent city department supported by the Montgomery Area Zoological Society, this attraction offers barrier-free and multi-species habitats split into five continental realms: Africa, Australia, Asia, North America, and South America.
During your visit, you can explore the expansive African Savanna Elephant habitat, see Bengal tigers viewing hoofstock over a moat in the Asian Realm, and check out native species like cougars, bald eagles, and black bears in the North American section. You can also tour the historic South America region—the zoo’s oldest section featuring a vintage flight cage—or walk through the interactive Budgerigar aviary in Australia.
On-site attractions include the Mann Wildlife Learning Museum, which features tactile taxidermy displays of native wildlife set against natural habitats, and the Waters of the World aquatic exhibit. Whether you are catching keeper talks, riding the Zoofari Skylift Adventure Ride for aerial park views, or visiting the petting zoo, you will find a diverse range of wildlife experiences waiting for you.
