National Museum of Qatar 🇶🇦

The National Museum of Qatar, located at the south end of Doha's Corniche, offers you a captivating journey through the country's culture, heritage, and future. Opened in March 2019, the striking building was designed by French architect Jean Nouvel, who drew inspiration from the natural desert rose crystal. Its architecture features interlocking discs designed to form cavities that shade you from the desert heat, encircling the historic early-20th-century palace of Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani—the heart of Qatari national identity.

Inside, you will experience Qatar's narrative brought to life through 21st-century lights, sounds, audiovisual displays, and immersive video screens. The museum's continuous loop of galleries takes you chronologically through the natural history of the desert and Persian Gulf, Bedouin culture, tribal conflicts, the establishment of the Qatari state, and the era of oil discovery leading into modernization. Along your walk, you will encounter roughly 8,000 objects from the collection, including ancient archaeological artifacts like Ubaid potsherds from Al Da'asa, Bedouin tools, weapons, traditional costumes, textiles, fine jewelry, decorative arts, historical documents, and handwritten national anthem drafts.

Outside, you can enjoy a landscaped park featuring an artificial lagoon.
