Located at Mohrenplatz 4 in Gera, Germany, the Otto-Dix-Haus offers you an intimate look into the birthplace of renowned German painter Otto Dix. Built in the 18th century as a half-timbered structure, this historic property was converted into an art museum between 1988 and 1991 to mark the centenary of the artist's December 2, 1891 birth. When you step inside, you will experience the authentic atmosphere of a simple working-class home from the early 20th century.

Spanning two floors, the museum—which forms part of the Kunstsammlung Gera alongside the Orangerie—showcases materials illuminating Dix's life and artistic career. You can explore a permanent collection boasting 400 drawings, oil paintings, and printed graphics from its own holdings, as well as an extensive collection of works on paper displayed in alternating special exhibitions. Highlighted masterpieces include 'Selbstbildnis als Raucher' (1913), 'Meine Freundin Elis' (1919), and 'Der Heilige Christophorus IV' (1939).

In addition to housing Dix's personal living rooms and his artwork, the museum features a separate hall hosting rotating exhibitions from other artists and photographers, alongside educational courses for teachers, artists, and youth groups. Fully restored following a 2013 flood, it remains an essential stop for art lovers.
