The Pantheon is the best-preserved building of ancient Rome — a 2,000-year-old temple with a coffered dome and an open oculus. Ten minutes away, the baroque Trevi Fountain fills a tiny piazza with theatrical marble and water.

What to see at Pantheon & Trevi Fountain

  • The Pantheon’s oculus is open to the sky — magical in rain or a shaft of sun.
  • A small entry fee now applies to the Pantheon; the Trevi is free to view.
  • Toss a coin over your left shoulder into the Trevi to guarantee your return to Rome.
  • Both are mobbed midday — come at dawn or after 9pm when they’re lit.
