Rosenborg Castle 🇩🇰

Step into Danish history at Rosenborg Castle, a stunning Renaissance landmark in Copenhagen. Originally built in 1606 as a country summerhouse for King Christian IV, this architectural masterpiece evolved into its present Dutch Renaissance design by 1624 under architects Bertel Lange and Hans van Steenwinckel the Younger. Serving as a royal residence until around 1710, it opened as a public museum in 1838.

Inside, you will explore the fascinating Royal Collections, displaying artifacts from the late 16th to 19th centuries that belonged to Danish royalty and nobility. Head to the third floor to experience the grand Long Hall, completed in 1624, where you can admire twelve Scanian War tapestries, intricate stucco ceilings, ceiling frescos, and 17th-century silver furniture. Here, you will also see the queen's throne guarded by three silver lions and the coronation chair of absolutist kings.

Be sure to venture to the treasury to marvel at the dazzling Crown Jewels, Danish Crown Regalia, and Coronation Carpet. Outside, you can stroll through Kongens Have, Denmark's oldest royal garden, where summer flowers bloom in front of the castle grounds.
