Located in the Apulia region within the municipality of Barletta, the Church of the Holy Family (Chiesa della Sacra Famiglia) offers a look into a unique modern parish complex. Originally founded in 1908 in the Borgovilla-Patalini district to serve an expanding neighborhood, the parish later transitioned to a brand-new site on Via Canosa. While the original early 20th-century church building still stands on Via Trento, it remains closed to the public due to its structural condition.
Completed and consecrated in December 1990, the present-day complex covers 4,500 square meters and integrates the main church, a striking bell tower, educational parish centers, and the underground Addazi auditorium. As you approach from Via Canosa, you will admire an expansive 45-meter-long white facade decorated with a circular mosaic of the Holy Family, a bronze inscription, and a metal cross. Inside the main entrance, a triangular churchyard smartly rotates the building's axis by 45 degrees to lead worshippers into the liturgical hall.
Nearby, visitors can also see a grotto dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes built in 2000. It is a welcoming, functional architectural landmark representing decades of dedicated community growth and faith in southern Italy.
