Sierra Leone National Museum

Located at the junction of Siaka Stevens Street and Pademba Road in central Freetown, the Sierra Leone National Museum offers you a direct connection to the nation's rich heritage and colonial history. In 1987, a new extension was added with funding from the German embassy to commemorate Freetown's bicentennial. A prominent highlight of the collection displayed in 2013 is the only known photograph of Bai Bureh, the famed Temne guerrilla leader who launched an 1898 war against British rule.
