St. Clement’s Chapel 🇺🇸

Located at 815 Piedmont Drive in Tallahassee, Florida, St. Clement's Chapel (also known as St. Clement's Chapel of the Church of the Advent) offers you a unique look at historic Carpenter Gothic architecture. Originally built and designed in 1890 by William Betton, this Episcopal church was first erected 15 miles east in Lloyd, Jefferson County, and named after Manhattan's church of the same name.

Bishop Edwin Gardner Weed dedicated the chapel in 1895, serving a small congregation until its deactivation in 1958 due to dwindling membership and repair needs. In June 1959, the building was gifted to Tallahassee's fledgling Church of the Advent, moved to its present location, renovated, and rededicated on Advent Sunday, November 29, 1959. It functioned as the congregation's main place of worship until 1996, when a larger modern building was constructed next door. When you visit, you will encounter a rare historical jewel: unlike many Carpenter Gothic Episcopal churches across Florida, St.

Clement's Chapel retains all of its original furnishings. Today, it remains an active part of church life, hosting events, weddings, and regular services, making it a peaceful and authentic historical stop in Leon County.
