The Roger Maris Museum 🇺🇸

Located inside the southeast wing of the West Acres Shopping Center in Fargo, North Dakota, the Roger Maris Museum offers you a unique, free look into the life and career of a baseball legend. Spanning a 70-foot display case, this permanent shrine celebrates local alumnus Roger Maris, who famously hit a then-record 61 home runs for the New York Yankees during the historic 1961 season. When you visit, you will experience a museum built under Maris's personal condition: that it remain free to the public and accessible within the shopping mall so he would not profit from his success.

Created by local American Legion members and opened in 1984, the display was later remodeled in 2003 during mall renovations. As you explore the space, you can view an incredible collection of sports history. Discover authentic uniforms, baseball cards, relics from his amateur years, Sultan of Swat Crowns, numerous bats, and actual home run balls.

You can even sit in real seats from Yankee Stadium inside a small theatre to watch documentary films, or stand before a replica of his iconic 1961 locker. It is an unpretentious, deeply personal tribute for sports fans passing through Fargo.
