When you visit Whitehorse, Canada, you can experience northern creativity at the Yukon Arts Centre. Opened in May 1992, this cultural hub is located southeast of Yukon University’s main campus. It houses a 428-seat theatre and a 390-square-metre art museum featuring three distinct galleries.

You will find a rich blend of music, visual arts, and performing arts, along with travelling exhibitions and community events. Inside the venue, you can attend live performances held on a 14-metre-wide stage or explore diverse artistic displays. The arts centre maintains its own permanent collection, established in 1995, which features over 100 works created by artists from across northern Canada.

While a large portion of this collection is stored in a climate-controlled facility—which also holds government-owned works from the Yukon Permanent Art Collection—the full collection has been available to view online since December 2016. Beyond the main complex, the centre hosts events as a key venue for the Available Light Film Festival, utilizes the downtown Old Fire Hall, and operates a gallery and storefront in Carcross. Whether you are catching a show or browsing northern art, it offers a central gathering space.
