Located in Woodmore near Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Six Flags America sat roughly 15 miles east of Washington, D.C., and 30 miles from Baltimore. Originally opened in 1974 as a drive-through wildlife preserve financed by Ross Perot and operated by ABC, the site evolved into the Wild World water park, then Adventure World under Premier Parks. In 1999, it officially rebranded as Six Flags America, expanding its footprint and entertainment options for visitors across the Mid-Atlantic region.

Spanning 131 acres of amusement space within a larger 515-acre property, the park was arranged into themed lands including Gotham City and Mardi Gras. It achieved renown for its diverse collection of thrill rides, hypercoasters, inverted coasters, historic wooden coasters, and flat rides. Connected to the property was Hurricane Harbor Maryland, an expansive water park featuring massive wave pools, lazy rivers, multi-slide towers, and high-speed water coasters designed to cool off summer guests.

The destination catered to thrill-seekers and families alike, offering dedicated children's zones alongside high-intensity drop towers and launched roller coasters. Operating seasonally with summer water park access and fall events, the property permanently closed on November 2, 2025, following a corporate merger and portfolio restructuring. The site was subsequently sold to Thirty Five Ventures and TPA Group for future mixed-use redevelopment.
