Welcome to George Rogers Park, a diverse 26-acre public park located at the intersection of Ladd and South State streets in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Named in appreciation of City Councilman George Rogers for his devoted efforts to develop and maintain the grounds, this historic riverfront spot sits along the Willamette River at the mouth of Oswego Creek.

The area served as a significant site of Native American activity over 10,000 years ago, and later became a convenient camping place for explorers, fur traders, and pioneers. When you visit today, you can explore the Oregon Iron Company Furnace, built in 1865 with ashlar masonry stone blocks and gothic arches.

It stands as the first blast furnace on the Pacific Coast and the only surviving furnace west of the Rocky Mountains, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Nearby at the lower park entrance, you can also see a massive 13,000-pound chunk of solidified iron known as a "Salamander." Beyond its rich industrial history, the park offers outdoor recreational facilities including two baseball fields, a soccer field, two outdoor tennis courts, a playground, restrooms, access to the Willamette River, and a memorial garden area.
