Step into the Museum of Gold (Museo del Oro) in Bogotá, Colombia, one of the nation's most visited highlights drawing around 500,000 annual travelers. You will explore the world's largest collection of gold artifacts, showcasing 6,000 pieces on display from a total collection of 55,000. Across permanent rooms on the second and third floors, you can discover pre-Columbian gold and metal alloys like Tumbaga, alongside ancient pottery, stone, shell, wood, and textiles.

These sacred items reflect the symbolic and religious values of indigenous societies before the Spanish conquest. During your visit, you will trace goldsmithing across cultures such as Calima, Quimbaya, Muisca, and Tairona in the second-floor "People and Gold in pre-Hispanic Colombia" exhibition. Continuing to the third floor, you can marvel at "The Flying Chamanic" and "The Offering" exhibits.

Here, you will see the famous Muisca golden raft—found in 1969—which depicts a chieftain's sacred ceremony that inspired the El Dorado myth. You can also view the historic Poporo Quimbaya, artistic videos in the Profunditation Room, and interactive displays in the fourth-floor Exploratorium, complete with bilingual descriptions for almost all exhibits.
