Located in Defenders of the Fatherland Square near Tauelsizdik Avenue in Astana, the Otan Korgaushilar Monument offers you a moving tribute to the heroes of Kazakhstan. This city memorial honors the Kazakhs who served in the Soviet Army during World War II, as well as veterans of the Kazakh Armed Forces. Standing 24 meters high and crafted from 63 tons of bronze, the impressive structure rests on an elevated granite foundation with a central bronze stele.

When you visit, you will see a prominent central figure of a woman holding a golden cup, which symbolizes peace and prosperity. Look to the right side to discover relief depictions of Soviet soldiers, and examine the left side to spot Kazakh batyrs portrayed defeating members of the Dzungar tribes. At the foot of the monument, an eternal flame burns continually, lit from a flame brought directly from the Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen in Almaty.

Designed by architects A. Beksultanov and N. Konopoltsev, the memorial opened on Victory Day in 2001 and is surrounded by a park, making it a powerful place to visit and reflect on local history.
