Located in the Ingombota District of Luanda, Angola, right next to the Presidential Palace in the cidade alta neighborhood, the historic Igreja de Jesus (also known as the Igreja dos Jesuítas) offers you a captivating window into seventeenth-century heritage. Originally built on land donated to the Society of Jesus in the 1580s by Portuguese governor Paulo Dias de Novais—on a site previously called Praça da Feira or Market Square—construction on this landmark began between 1607 and 1612, concluding in 1636.
