Located in Gombe in northern Kinshasa next to the Congo River, the Palace of the Nation (Palais de la Nation) serves as the official residence and primary workplace for the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Constructed in 1956 based on Marcel Lambrichs' classical modernist design, this landmark was originally intended as a residence for the colonial Governor-General.
