Welcome to the Honduran National Gallery of Art (Galería Nacional de Arte, or GNA), a key cultural destination situated in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Managed by the dedicated Foundation for Arts and Culture (Fundación Pro Arte y Cultura), which was originally established in 1994, this vibrant museum offers you a meaningful encounter with Honduran creative heritage. The gallery officially opened its doors to the public on July 31, 1996, and has grown into a major attraction, welcoming around 40,000 monthly visitors as of 2019.
Following an extensive renovation in 2012 supported by the IHAH and the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras, the museum reopened its updated spaces in 2013. When you visit, you will explore diverse artistic expressions, including a dedicated sculpture garden added in 2017 that showcases impressive three-dimensional works crafted by 25 Honduran sculptors. Beyond the main Tegucigalpa site, the gallery's reach expanded even further when a second branch opened in San Pedro Sula on July 16, 2015.
Whether you are an art enthusiast or a curious traveler, visiting the National Gallery of Art allows you to appreciate local history, artistic revitalization, and regional talent right in the heart of Honduras.
