Located in the village of Bonendale just a few kilometers outside Douala, ArtBakery is a unique art centre established in 2002 by artist Goddy Leye after returning from the Netherlands. If you are interested in contemporary African cultural practices, this creative hub is specifically designed to technically support the production of multimedia artworks, video, and digital art.

Supported by the Rijksakademie International Network (RAIN), the centre actively nurtures creative talent through specialized training programs, including Master Class sessions for emerging artists, Art Daily for journalists, and the Portfolio residency program for young creators. During your exploration of its rich history, you will discover groundbreaking community-focused projects like Bessengue City, which featured an experimental local radio station, shelter construction using native materials, digital portrait posters, a video titled Bouquet de Sourires, and cross-cultural website exchanges between Cameroon and Indonesia.

You can also learn about ambitious collaborative ventures like the 2006 Exit Tour, where artists traveled across West Africa via public transportation, as well as events like the Poetry Festival 3v held in 2009. ArtBakery offers you an intriguing glimpse into the innovative world of digital art and multimedia production near Douala.
