Why Gainesville

Gainesville serves as the seat of Alachua County and stands as the most populous municipality in North Central Florida. Known primarily as an educational center, the city hosts the main campus of the University of Florida, whose collegiate sports teams compete as the Florida Gators. The community is defined by a dense, species-rich urban forest that covers nearly half of its land area, earning it long-standing national recognition as a tree city. Gainesville experiences a humid subtropical climate with mild winters and warm, tropical-like summers. High humidity and afternoon thunderstorms are common from mid-May through September. Late November and December offer light seasonal foliage variations, while the period from mid-February through early April presents the driest weather, lowest humidity, and widespread spring floral displays.
